Rocket Fizz Cinnamon

Posted by [email protected] on December 25, 2014 at 4:00 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

I was pleased with the last Rocket Fizz brand soda that we tried (Gram`s Cracker) so I was anxiously awaiting this moment. Cinnimon is definetly a unique flavor especially for a pop so I was ready to see what they could do. I think of this review as sorta a test for Rocket Fizz, if they can master this unique favor they are officialy a respected brand for me. Granted that their Melba`s and Lester`s Fixins line was less than stellar (Key Lime Pie exeption). This line has proven worthy so far so I was not hesitant. My only worry was that the pop would be unbearably strong because of cinnimon`s strong flavor. The pop had a dark red color that was definetly artificial. When we smelled the soda we all started coughing because it got in our lungs and tickled. This worried us. We thought it was a sure sign that the soda would be really strong. Any way I drank from the cup and started coughing because when I held the cup to my mouth the smell got in my nose and went to my lungs again. BEWARE WHEN DRINKING FROM A CUP THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG. The taste of this soda was very good. It had a very acurate cinnimon flavor that was spicy in the back of your throat. However a sweet undertone kept the flavor under control. This soda was nice and actually soothing. The smell was the only downside and the carbonation was a little less than I would prefer but by no means bad. I would have to say that Rocket Fizz pasted this test and I look forward to trying more soda from them. The only warning I have is the spicy smell. If I had to choose I would pick a more traditional soda flavor but this is definetly not a bad pop. The spice from the flavor is not as potent as a ginger beer but still has a kick to it.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Rating: 7/10

C's Review:

I know that cinnimon is very strong so a cinnimon soda I thought would be strong too. Ive had good and bad  experiences with Rocket Fizz like the grahm cracker soda was great but this would be the desiding vote. When we opened this soda there was a smell that was identicle to cinnimon but so strong we all coughed so much we almost spilled the bottle but the smell was still good just to strong. The color was nice it reminded me a little bit of the foxin park cherry which is a great bright red color. The taste was... the smell was so stong I had to hold my breath to take a sip but the flavor was spot on! It had a great cinnimon flavor that was very strong so that made me cough and almost spit it out but  I held it in and the flavor was great! Over-all I think that this was a passing vote and rocket fizz did a good job.

Rating:6.5/10

Verdict: Buy a 4-pack ( because the smell is so strong I can't drink more)

T's Review:

Rocket Fizz has made so many good sodas and we've had a good history with them. Honestly, I wasn't ecstatic to try this soda, but only because it is cinnamon and I don't like cinnamon stuff because of a very strong spicy flavor. The soda was a dark red and a very interesting color for a cinnamon flavored anything. The smell made it nearly unbearable, though. It was a very strong cinnamon that made all of us cough. It was a terrible feeling, and it seemed to get worse the more we smelled it. But we went on and tasted it. It was a very nice, smooth flavor that I would have loved more if not for the smell. I couldn't enjoy the soda long because the smell filled my nostrils. Overall, this is a good soda, but be cautious of the smell. It was a great soda, but it would be better with a much dimmer scent. Thanks, Rocket Fizz, for another installment of RTBC's soda tastings!

Verdict: Buy at least a bottle (I'd buy more but the smell is too strong for me)

Rating: 7/10

R's Review:

I was excited to try this because I am a fan of cinnamon. I was thinking that this would be a spicy and hot soda like a ginger beer. The color was a beautiful light red. Although the smell was nearly impossible to get a full and thorough scent. Every time I would take a smell I would start wheezing and couphing. When I went to try it I couldn't because of the smell. I had to hold my breath while it entered my mouth. The soda to my surprise was a fruity cinnamon taste with no spice or carbonation. It wasn't bad but it was really different. I had to hold my breath while it went into my mouth and that might have been a factor of how it tasted. Overall, it wasn't what it's name portrayed but it wasn't that bad.

Verdict: Buy 2 bottles

Virgil`s Special Addition Bavarian Nutmeg Root Beer

Posted by [email protected] on December 25, 2014 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

Where should I even start? The bottle is probably the most impressing bottle I have ever seen. It is a large 16oz bottle that is tinted brown and has a indent on the bottle giving it a flat bottom. Then the cap. This is no ordinary twist off, no, for a root beer of this level you need a porcelain flip cap to preserve freshness. I normally don`t list the ingredients but this is an exception: Purified carbonated water, natural flavors, herbs and spices, citric acid, and pure cane sugar (not in order). After reading the ingredients I decide to go to the website for a little more research. It is there at the website that I find a more in-depth ingredients listing. The website ingredients list follows: Carbonated water, unbleached cane sugar, anise (Spain), licorice (France), vanilla (Madagascar), cinnamon (Ceylon), clove (Indonesia), wintergreen (China), sweet birch (Southern US), molasses (US), nutmeg (Indonesia), pimento berry oil (Jamaica), balsam oil (Peru), cassia oil (China). Not only have they used an impressive array of herbs and spices and oils but they actually imported them from over 8 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES!!!!!! No wonder this was a pricey bottle. Any way I was a little skeptical because the website didn`t mention citric acid which was listed on the bottle but then a more startling thought came to mind. "What if it isn`t good because all the spices are too strong" was what I thought. I turned to fellow reviewers for help. They had great things to say about this pop and that eased my worried mind. However I also found some new information out as well. Multiple reviewers that shall remain nameless (I don`t know why i just always wanted to say that) mentioned that the water used was from a well in Bavaria and is said to be one of the purest sources on earth. Unfortunately this can`t be confirmed on the website but still multiple people mentioned this and it had to have started somewhere. Any way on to the tasting. The smell was not too strong from the bottle but from a cup, it was clearly a creamy root beer with a hint of nutmeg and a licorice note. When I tasted the pop it was very very complex. I mean I guess I expected this with all the spices and all but its different to actually taste it. It had many layers of flavor, if that makes sense. There were so may I couldn`t uncover most of them. It was a sweet and creamy root beer that had a strong licorice note. As the licorice note fades away the wintergreen becomes very present. Then the sweet birch makes an appearance that gives it a birch beer feel for a split second. The vanilla from Madagascar wasn`t left out and maintained a flavor throughout the whole sip. You could taste the clove looking back at it but not much nutmeg. There were a lot of other flavors like I said but I couldn`t identify them. But yeah like I said this is a very complex drink that I think is mainly targeted by tasters and connoisseurs. I have a feeling that the water is in fact from Bavaria because the nutmeg was imported from Indonesia and what else would make it Bavaria? Anyway, this is a very good soda and I would recommend it to anyone that has a cultured pallet.

Verdict: buy a 12 pack

Rating: 8.5/10

T's Review:

I don't think my review is going to be as long as B's. This bottle was very impressive and probably the hardest bottle we've had to open yet. After we finally did, we all smelled it and I think it had a nice sarsaparilla mixed in with root beer scent. It had a very weird color for a root beer, but it looked like a lighter caramel-color. It had ingredients from eight different countries in the one 16.9 ounce bottle, so we were expecting a lot. And our expectations were met. It tasted like a regular root beer at first but transformed into a giant tsunami of flavor that I can't describe. This soda was petty good, and although everyone else isn't going to agree with me, I'd take a different root beer over this one. But I'd definitely have it again.

Verdict: Buy an 8-pack

Rating: 8/10

C's Review:

Wow this was a dang good soda. However I think that the taster may have to have a  more developed pallet.I enjoyed this. I heard from B that this soda was made with ingredients from 7 COUNTRIES!!! That is impressing because usualy an average soda`s ingredients come from 2 countriesat most.On to the color, there was a magnificent golden brown color that was great and hightened my expectations. The smell was like no other because in a normal root beer the licorice smell is so faint you don`t notice, but in this soda it was different because you could smell the licorice from across the table. The taste was soooo good. I was amazed. It had  a cool refreshing traditional root beer smell that had a hint of nutmeg and a strong licorice flavor that put me in a trance!

Rating: 9/10

Verdict: buy a crate

R's Review:

I was so excited about this soda. It was limited edition, Bavarian Nutmeg, cool bottle root beer. It sounded so good because it had ingredients imported from over 5 countries. To start, we couldn't figure out how to open the bottle so we had to wait like 5 minutes to try it. The smell of this was so powerful, I think people could be hypnotized by it. The color was a beautiful light brown and I felt like that wasn't the color of other root beers. My first taste was actually not the best. It had a wierd black licorice taste and I hate that. I felt like somehow you could taste all of the different water. But I overall was not a huge fan of this soda. I thought it would be great but I didn't like it too much.

Oogave Watermelon Cream

B`s review:

In the wake of the Jones Crushed Melon Soda I was very exited to try this. However, I was very confused on how a watermelon could be paired with cream. Anyway, I know that the brand Oogave is organic so is good as far as I`m concerned. I have never tried Oogave but I know that they are one of the more "healthy" brands out there. Well we poured the soda I was still pondering on how this would taste. The color was a light red or pink which was obviously fitting for this flavor. When I smelled the soda it hit me. BOOM. This is like a red pop. This is very similar to the goody blue pop that is except it is made with a different fruit. The smell was a sweet watermelon and a carbonated cream if that makes sense. I tasted the pop and was immedietly comfronted by an army of carbonation that was followed by a sweet watermelon flavor that was pretty average I geuss. Then came the cream flavor that went pretty good with the watermelon. The flavors went okay together, but not perfect. There was another flavor in their that was less than steller but it didn`t last for too long. The closest I can compare it too is floride but its not identice. Overall this is a unique soda and I would recomened it to anyone who likes watermelon.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Rating 6.5/10

T's Review:

We got this from Rocket Fizz and we were very excited to try this, added onto the fact that none of us has had a watermelon soda before. This soda had a really nice pink color to it. It smoked, which is a good sign to us here at RTBC, thinking that it has a good carbonation. Maybe a superstition, I guess. It smelled really strongly of watermelon and a little scent of whip cream somewhere in the mix. It tasted like carbonation and flavorless at first, but the flavor came eventually. It was a pretty good watermelon and cream soon overcame it in a really well-put mix. The only problem I had with this soda was a flouride aftertaste that wasn't too bad, but it wasn't good either. I like this soda and I'd have it again.

Verdict: Buy a 5-pack (I don't think that exists)

Rating: 7.5/10

C's Review

So a "Watermelon cream" soda. when I walked up to the cup I saw a pink color that reminded me of a country on a globe which is ligh light pink that trails to a white froth color to the center. The color intreaged me but when the bottle steamed I was very curious. The taste however was a good but nothin' special watermelon taste followed by a descent cream flavor that made me think of the fact: OOgave' is made with all natural ingredients! After seing and tasting this "healthy" soda i was impressed. good job OOgave and I cant wait to try your other sodas!

Rating;6/10

Verdict: buy a 6 pack

R's Review

Going into this soda I knew it was all natural so I thought it was going to taste kind of odd. I also didn't believe that you could mix those two flavors together. A sweet and a bland flavor. I was actually pleasantly surprised. The color was a very light pink. My first taste was a kind of bland creamy taste. I could see where the watermelon came in but it still was more cream. I thought it would be more watermelon because this was all natural but OOGAVE was able to turn all natural  to a creamy taste. This wasn't my favorite but I would try it again.

The List:

Orca Sugar Plum

Orca Sugar Cookie

As you can all see the list isn`t as long as the Fall list and Jones hasn't came out with a holiday soda series this year so the list is limited. But Birch Beers and Ginger flavored sodas aren't ever a bad idea for the holidays.

Hippo Size Peach

B`s Review:

Well I have been waiting for this soda for a long time now, the cream soda from Hippo Size was great and I wanted to have more of their products so I could further form my opinion on them. I love peaches, and peach sodas, and peach cobblers, and the list of peach related food goes on. That made me very exited to try this. When we poured this soda from the brown tinted bottle the true color of the soda was revealed and to my exitment it was a brilliant, natural, reddish orange that made me wanna dive right in. The smell was a sweet peach aroma that made my mouth water and I was on the edge of sanity waiting to try it. When the time finally came to taste the pop I was practicaly drowning from the amount fo saliva that had concentrated in my mouth. The flavor was as natural as you can get. It was sweet but accuratly so because peaches have natural sweetness. The peachy flavor was spot on and I was refreshing and I couldn`t get enough. The flavor actually had a bit of the flavor that the peach`s skin give off, I don`t really know how to explain it but you should definetly see for yourself. The carbonation was good and it added to the overall expierience. Plus R has mentioned in the past that the smell that the pop gives off when you drin is a big factor to the reviews. I couldn`t agree more. This sodas sweet peach aroma added to this soda for the better. Keep in mind that I might be a little bias because of my love for peaches and if you like peaches stop reading and buy this pop NOW. If you don`t like peaches you should stay away but you don`t know what you're missing.

Verdict: Buy a 10 pack

Rating: 8.5/10

T's Review:

We've tried Hippo Size before, and I turned out to be the only person in our group that didn't like the cream soda they made. I didn't know what to think because I heard these sodas are supposed to be really good, but I didn't like the last one. It had a nice orange color to it that definitely resembled a peach. It smelled just like a peach, too. I love peaches, so this excited me. It tasted like no other. We never tried a peach before this one, so I didn't expect the taste I got. It tasted like very fresh, newly picked peach and it was amazing. It blew my mind and I'd have it any day. Check my top ten: This is number 4!

Verdict: Buy a 10-pack (Are those even a thing?)

Rating: 8.75/10

C's Review

Ive had a couple of peach sodas in my day this was by far my fovorite. This soda had the clearish color but with a tint of red in there so I geisse it kind of reminded of peach skin. The smell was a sweet and almost tangy peach that smelled Identical to the real thing so good job hippo on the smell. And then the taste it had a sweet peach flavor that was IDENTICKLE to a california peach but the carbonation was perfect. I really like this soda and I think that you should definetly buy it.

Rating9/10

Verdict: buy a 24pack

R's Review:

I'm going to start out and say that this would be a fantastic soda... if I liked peach. In my opinion it wasn't the best but this soda had true potential. The Hippo Size sodas I have tried were great. I don't want to say much of this soda because I don't want to stop you from trying it. I'm sure many people will like this soda but I wasn't a huge fan of it. You should definitely try it. I'm not even going to write a rating and verdict because I don't want to give you any bad advice. Look at the other reviews for better advice.

Melba's Fixins Key Lime Pie

Posted by [email protected] on December 21, 2014 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

I have to be honest and say that I was not exited to try this. However I have heard thia is actually a decent soda so I forced myself to remain optimistic. The bottle showed an overly exited Melba and a peice of key lime pie with a heaping pile of vanilla ice cream atop it. The smell was sweet and creamy. Actually it resembled a very good vanilla ice cream. Unfortunetly I was still skeptical because the aroma was missing a rather major component, the key lime. I watched as R poured my cup and the color was a light green that looked appealing to me. At this point my attitude shifted and I was excited to try this soda. The taste started off pretty straight forward, a sweet rich vanilla that was very plesant and fit for a cream soda (a rather sweet one though). Then came the subdued lime flavor that was pretty darn good. Unfortunetly the great lime flavor left just as quickly as it appeared and the pop ended with the same vanilla flavor. All in all the flavor was pretty good and the only problems were the lack of carbonation and the off balanced flavors. The soda was very much on the vanilla flavor which wasn`t all bad just a little disapointing. Also the carbonation was absent for most the time so that was pretty disappointing. Any way my quest for the perfect lime soda will go on, but the lime in this soda came pretty close to my surprise. Thos pop renewed my faith in Melba and i am ready to try more of her flavors.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Rating: 7.5/10

C's Review

The dreaded "Melbas and Lesters Fixins'' brands if you have gone in depth in this website you would know that the first melbas fixins we tried was awful so we had very low expectations. The soda had the color of a wild lime and that exited me because a semi natural color in a fixins soda was great. The smell was surprisingly good like a key lime pie! ?The taste was very good for our low expectations and it blew the first one out of the water. However, this soda was not in my top 20, it was still good.

Rating: 5/10

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

T's Review:

After the Melba's Fixins and Lester's Fixins sodas that were absolutely terrible, we were reluctant to try this soda. It had a light green color, but it didn't look fresh. It had a good smell to it and it didn't have the dreaded chemical smell. This excited us. Maybe this soda would be good after all. And it was! It had a sweet key lime taste (more key lime, no pie taste) and very little chemical taste. I loved this soda and it makes my top ten. Great job, Rocket Fizz! Another great soda you've made!

Verdict: Buy a 6-pack

Rating: 8/10

R's Review:

This is going to be a quick and simple review. There is not much to say about this soda. Going into it I wasn't excited because the last time I had a Melba Fixin's soda, I wasn't too thrilled with it. My first taste wasn't bad because it was just a key lime pie. This soda wasn't bad but I just have a grudge against the Fixin's sodas. Look towards the other reviews for more.

Americana Honey Lime Gingerale

Posted by [email protected] on December 21, 2014 at 6:50 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

Well of course I had high expectations for this, I mean come on their black cherry was revolutionary. I still ponder on how they managed to make the tart blend with the sweet so nicely. But its time to move on and I want to try some other flavors by this brand. When I smelled the pop from the soda it was faint which was expected but when I poured it in the cup it was very strong. It was a strong ginger aroma that practicaly carried the spice from the ginger into my nostrals. When I "investigated" the smell some more I concluded that you could definetly smell the lime. When I tasted this soda I was shocked because the label stated it was a gingerale, ALE. That means for all of you that don`t drink ginger sodas, that it will be a smooth mild ginger flavor, unlike ginger BEER that has a spicy strong ginger flavor. This was one of the spiciest ginger sodas I have ever tried. If this soda wasn`t so fricken good I would label this false advertising but this is a rare exeption. The ginger flavor itself was strong, refreshing, and spicy. The flavor of the ginger was very nice and natural. Then their was a sweetness that mysteriously didn`t mask the spice, but was still very presant. I would say that the sweetness was from the honey and it was very plesant. Also of course the lime was a deciding factor for me. To be honest if it didn`t have the lime I wouldn`t have liked this soda nearly as much. The lime is not just a citrus but a sour yet sweet lime. The lime actually distrated me from the ginger`s spice for a short time and helped me to truly taste the ginger. This soda is as refreshing as they come and had a great carbonation. This is strange to say but I don`t think that the carbonation contributed to the spice. I think it made this soda refrwshing and enjoyable for me. If I had to be picky I would say it was a little on the heavy sode but this soda is too good for that to matter.

Verdict: buy a 12 pack

Rating: 8/10

C's Review:

So I thought this soda was a ginger ale untll I tried it and when I tried it I knew it was really a ginger beer. I had high hopes for this soda because we have tried "Americana" black cherry before and it was great like really great, so when this soda was miss titled I was kind of upset. It had a clear color that was nice and natural looking but when I smelled it was the dead give away. The smell was almost identicle to Cock'n Bull Ginger Beer (see revew) which we have reviewed but there ws a small tint of lime in there to. And the taste was almost identicle to the smell exactly like cockn bull but with lime. I think this was a good soda just miss titled americana but still good.

Rating:8/10

Verdict: buy a 12 pack.

T's Review:

I loved Americana Black Cherry (see review), so I was ready for another. This isn't what I was expecting. I smelled it and it was a vanilla and ginger smell, nice and it got me ready and pumped. It tasted really good, like a lime and honey mix, but sadly, it turned to spice with no other flavor fast. I hated it and I wish it was just that first taste. This was disappointing.

Verdict: Try it, but a warning if you hate spicy stuff, like me.

Rating: 4/10

R's Review:

I was excited to try this soda because I love ginger ale and I thought this was going to be an excellent different kind of ginger ale. I love Americana so that was another thing I was excited about. I bought this at Rocket Fizz in Glenview and there was a list of their top 100 favorite sodas. This soda was the first soda on their list and it sounded interesting enough. When we tried this soda, I was in bewonderment on how this could be made. I am not the biggest fan of honey but what I do know is that it makes a soda sweet. I thought this was going to make a great mix of soda. My first smell was a nice lime sweet smell with the ginger ale in it. It smelled quite good. I wish you could buy something that you could smell the thing whenever you want. My first taste was a brilliant sweet ginger ale. But then it turned a bit spicy in the back of your throat like a ginger beer. There isn't a spice in ginger ale like there is in ginger beer but overall, I really liked this soda. I really reccomend it to people.

Sprecher Seasonal Blueberry (Review #50!)

Posted by [email protected] on December 14, 2014 at 7:15 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

I don`t know how much you guys know about Sprechers but if you don`t know this then you need to do some research. Sprechers comes out with several seasonal sodas throughout the year. One of which is blueberry. I am not the biggest blueberry fan so feel free to try this pop and shape an opinion for yourself. The large bpttle had a picture of a delighful little fox playing with blueberries for some reason. When we opened the bottle you could smell the soda from 7 feet away. It had a strong natural blueberry scent that was unmistakable and very accurate. We poured the soda and it had a green blue color that then settled into a dark purple. When we sipped the solid purple liquid it was apparent that if you don`t like blueberries in the slightest the don`t drink this soda. However I didn`t mind this and I am not a blueberry fan so see for yourself. The flavor was like the smell. A very accurate natural blueberry that was sweet and had a strong blueberry flavor. I personaly think that this soda had a thicker consistancy and was pretty frothy. I wanna say the consistancy was syrupy but that would be impossible because the flavor was so natural. This soda`s carbonation was good and like I said before, very very blueberry-y. I would recomend this to anyone who likes blueberries in the slightest. This soda was rich and because of Sprecher`s trade mark big bottles I probably could not finish a bottle but keeping that in mind I will not let that affect my verdict. This soda was fresh and natural and the ingredients were perfect but blue berry isn`t my cup of tea.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Rating: 6.5 /10

R's Review:

Like all Sprecher reviews, I never have much to say about them. This soda just tasted like a bad blueberry. I you have ever tried GU before and you have tried the pomegranite kind, it tastes just like this. The carbonation was a little off balanced but like I have said before, I like good carbonation but I don't care much about it. I like the flavor. And this was not the best flavor I have tried. Sprecher could have done a lot better.

Verdict: Buy a 2 pack

Rating: 5.95/10

C's Review:

Another sprecher soda, and if you have read our past review's on Sprecher sodas you know that we have pretty HIGH expectations. But this soda didnt quite make the cut. There was potential in this soda all it needs our some minor tweeks. The color was a clearish purple color that reminded me of the inside of a blueberry. The smell was good yet lacking the freshness a fruit soda should have it reminded me of a bitter blueberry with a hint of grape...well its hard to describe. There is a thing that I noticed after drinking this soda and its that there is a bad aftertaste to this soda and I hardly ever notice aftertastes. The taste was decent just not as strong as I would like it. So overall I thought this soda was pretty good.

Rating: 7/10

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

T's Review:

Sprecher! Always excited to try Sprecher! These sodas always blow the words right out of my mouth. Literally. Every now and then, Sprecher makes seasonal flavors and this is one of them. Also, red raspberry is another that I've been waiting to try since this blog started. It was a clear purple color and looked sweet. It smelled blueberry-like, but sadly, not as fresh as most Sprecher sodas. I tried it and it was really good. It was like any other Sprecher flavor, sweet and satisfactory, but sadly, this is the worst one I've tried. Oh well, it was still really good.

Verdict: Buy a 6-pack

Jones Crushed Melon

B`s Review:

Ok I was very interested in this soda. For some reason I think that melon and soda are great when combined. Although many soda companies don`t make melon flavored sodas I look for them and am always willing to drink one. I am curiouse about 2 things before the tasting. The first is why is crushed relevant to this pop`s title. Does it have any significance or did they just want a longer title? Then my second question was why is it orange, then I relized it was Cantalope. Of course cantalope is orange and... wait cantalope. When I think of melon soda I think of  simply water melon, but leave it to Jones to make a cantalope soda, GENIUSE. The color made me salavate. It was a nice orange with a touch of pinkish red that made it look like a nectar. That nade me think there is some watermelon in there. I smelled the soda and it was sweet, bordering on syrupy sweet which made me shiver in fear of a major let down. As you should know I am very cautiouse when it comes to swetness and maybe I`m just sensative but it irks me when a soda I am looking forward to is spoiled by something as little as sweetness. However the scent was not just sweetness it also had a fruity essence to it that represented a sliver of hope in this soda not going to crap. I was ready to taste and when I finished pouring I was rarin to go. To be honest my first sip I was skeptical and wasn`t a big fan. Then with my second sip I fell in love with this soda. I guss it took me a little while to get used to the sweetness. It was sweet and was pretty similar to cantaloupe. It had a fruity tang that shocked my taste buds a little. I am also fairly certain there was some honet dew laced in with the catalope some where. And even in the back of your mouth you can get a very small even un recognisable watermelon. This is a very very creative peice of work and I give major credit to Jones for dreaming this up. Yes this was a little on the sweet side for me but I can`t argue because this had so many other things going for it. Also the carbonation was a little low but this is one of those sodas that can get passed me without a perfect carbonation. In this case the flavor which is in no means light, is just a touch to subtle for full on carbonation. I think the carbonation fits this soda nice and spotlights the flavor great. I am looking forward to Jones products in the future and I encourage you to try this soda.

R's Review:

I was extremely excited to try this soda because I absolutely love melon. Honeydew, cantelouope, watermelon, you name it. Melon is by far my favorite kind of fruit. I have tried Jones before and it isn't my favorite. The PB&J one (see review) was not terrible but it wasn't my favorite. The color of it obviously represented a canteloupe color because it was a dark light orange. It also had some pink in there which made the soda look a lot more bigger and bolder. The first thing I always do when I open a Jones bottle, I look at my fortune in the cap. I did not get it at all. Stuff about family and friends. Anyway, back to the soda. Once the cap opened, I smelled this and thought for a second. It was different. It had a nice cantaloupe smell and a blandish sweetish sting to it. My first taste was overwhelmed with joy. It had a nice cantaloupe flavor and I could not believe how perfect the sweetness was. It was not too sweet but not little sweet. It was perfect. It was almost as if they used syrup. I could find some watermelon in there and that was really nice because it was called crushed melon and not crushed cantaloupe. Like B said, there was a dewey flavor and I love dewey sodas unlike B,C, or T such as Mountain Dew. That is what I think helped the sweetness to be so perfect. I think it was a bit flat on the carbonation. Carbonation is not the thing I look for in sodas. I want the flavor. I rarely care about the amount of carbonation. I like the taste. My pet peeve for drinking these sodas is if you are drinking it in a cup, I hate if there is a bad smell flooding your nose as you take a sip. That happened to me with Sioux City Prickly Pear (see review). It just disgusts me when that happens. I was so excited that when I was taking a sip, the smell was good and did not bother my nose at the least. I haven't seen much melon sodas out there and hope to see more in the future but this was a good first. I felt like the soda had something to it that no other people could ever dream of making. I'm pretty sure it was the sweetness. I can't believe and am still astounded on how this soda had this good of sweetness. No brand name soda makers could ever make it for you. The only way to find out how fantastic this soda is is to try it. Try it Try it Try it!!!!! Jones is a popular gourmet soda maker and that means that there will be people out there that buy this soda more often then other people which is fantastic and if you see it in the stores, make it your priority to get this soda. Jones has made some horrible sodas such as smoked salmon soda which I can't wait to try but this was one of the best sodas I have ever tried by any company. Look on the welcome page and you will see that Jones Crushed Melon has taken 2nd place in my top five and they totally deserved it. I am surprised that T, B, and C didn't make this in their top five because this soda was incredible. Jones did phenominal on this soda. Nice job Jones and keep making sodas like this one!!!!!!!

Verdict: Buy a stock

C's Review:

I've never had a melon soda before but I was super exited because my favorite fruit is a honeydew, especially in the summer. So when I bought this soda I did not know what to expect because melons can be easily to sweet or not sweet enough. This was a briliatly colored soda that looked as if they had mixed the color of cantolupe and watermelon that made the color look like a darkish orange that looked really refreshing. When we opened this soda it had a smell like no other, its smell was so fresh it smelled as if they had made the soda minutes ago. It smelled like cantolupe and watermelon juices mixed with cane sugar and conbined with a smidge of honeydew in there. The taste was magnifescent there was a strong cantolupe flavor coming first but then there was a little bit smaller trailing flavor of water melon that blended PERFECTLY with the cantolupe it came out with a amazing fresh and refreshing soda... But wait is that honeydew? YES there was a tint of honeydew that flavor pulled it together perfectly with a sweet and kind of bitter-ish flavor. And then looking back on the soda I wondered that the title had Crushed in it and that made me think, and then i realized it crushed as in juice OH that made more sence.

Rating: 9/10

Verdict. buy a crate

T's Review:

I've never tried a melon soda, so I was excited to try something new. Jones makes a lot of great sodas. It had a nice cantaloupe color to it and the facts on the back showed it was really fresh. It smelled like a very fresh melon that was amazing. We were all blown away and ready for it. The taste was like nothing I've ever tried or probably will try. Perfect carbonation, nice mixed melon taste. I tasted cantaloupe most of all, but also honeydew and a watermelon-ish aftertaste. It was really sweet and very refreshing. I'd have this again any day. Great job, Jones! Make more like this!

Verdict: Buy at least 20!

Izze Pomegranate

B`s Review:

If I remember correctly (which I do) I was pleased with the Izze Green Apple. In fact, the only problem was the white grape flavoring. As I eagerly wait for the pouring I look at the ingredients section with contempt as I see "white grape" in white letters. Any way this Izze, like the last was in a can. This time instead if bright green it was a dark purple. When I smelled this pop it was very similar to cranberry juice. The pleasant smell bubbled up to my nostrils and I was enjoying it. When we poured the beverage it had a nice purple color that made me more certain this was false advertising at it was actually cranberry flavored. When I took My first sip it was very pleasant and slightly complex. It had a definite cranberry element to it but it had a slight pomegranate undertone to it. The initial burst of flavor was complemented by a carbonation that nipped at my tongue and made this pop all the more refreshing. Unfortunately the white grape makes an appearance and it starts going down hill. The drink begins to shift to a sweeter side but still maintains its cranberry/ pomegranate taste. The flavor shifts to a white grape that is only existent for a brief moment and then you swallow. Once again I have experienced the white grape wash out the flavor and make the drink take a turn for the worst. Once again I feel it is necessary to mention that I understand that Izze was trying to cut the sweetness with white grape but I just think that they could make a better choice of fruit to use as a sweetener.Granted that the white grape went better with the pomegranate pop than the green apple pop I remain un changed about my position. I have to say although it was more cranberry and the white grape messed up a little this was still a very nice beverage.

Verdict: buy a 6 pack

Rating: 7/10

R's Review:

Like I have said in my other reviews on IZZE, it is extremely tart. Also like B said, it has white grape in it along with a number of other flavors in it. When we opened the can, I could already tell it was going to be a sweet, sweet soda. My first smell was a tart cranberry smell. I don't know who would think this is pomegranate after smelling it. It honestly smells exactly like cranberry or Sprecher Ravin Red. It had a nice light dark purple. It may sound weird but it really does look like that. My first sip was a tart, sweet, cranberry with quite a lot of carbonation. It was very refreshing but again, like B said, the white grape in the soda was possible to be found if you really payed attention to the taste. I really don't know why this was a pomegranate soda. It had all of the things I look for in cranberry juice. The sweetness, tart, and a really nice cranberry. I know that pomegranate is tart and sour and sweet but this should be 100% a cranberry soda. While drinking it, my mind kept going back and forth from Sprecher Ravin Red to this IZZE. The white grape really did kind of put this soda off it's flavor but not by much. Out of all of the ingredients in this soda, white grape is definitely the one you taste most. I could easily drink another can and I would rather have it over other IZZE. My only thing that I request is to lower the tartness and CHANGE THE NAME OF THIS SODA. It should be a cranberry any day easily.

Verdict: Buy a 6 pack

Rating: 7.25/10

C's Review

Well another IZZE to review and this was not my favorite. I realized that IZZEs are sweetened with white grape which I`m pretty sure is an artificial white grape. I was not sure what white grape was when I heard about it but I asked B and he told me. This IZZE started off with a purplish, translucent color that reminded me a little bit of the fruit that surrounds the pomegranate seed and that got my hopes up a little bit. However when I smelled the soda it had a slightly bitter scent that was kinda of unappetizing but when I tried the soda it had a decent flavor that resembled pomegranate and also a little bitterness. There was a tiny aftertaste that continued the bitter flavor. This soda was nothing special.

Verdict: Buy a 4 pack

Rating: 5.75/10

T's Review:

I have a loathing for Izze and I don't think it will end. These "sodas" are way too tart and have a terrible carbonation. It smelled just like cranberry juice. Pomegaranates are delicious, so I was a little hopeful, but it went away as I tasted it. It tasted like pomegranate for less than a second, but then it became tart without flavor and the familiar taste that all Izzes share. If you try it, you'll know what I mean. Please don't make me try another one of these. Ugh.

Verdict: Buy a can

Sprecher Root Beer

B`s Review:

Well once again RTBC anxiously awaits another nice soda from Sprechers. Here we have a large (as always) bottle of sprechers Root Beer. Like many soda companies Root Beer seems to be their signature flavor. Well we seem to be pleased with their other flavors so lets see what else they can do. The bottle was dark brown with a scrawny bird holding a bottle of the root beer that to be honest, gives me the creeps. When we popped the cap the soda "smoked" which according ti RTBC lore means the soda will be good ( actually I`m almost positive there is a scientific explanation involving temperature and stuff but whatever). The smell was legendary. It smelled like a traditional, well made, old time root beer. It had a classic root beer flavor that went above and beyond and had a creamy smell to it as well. The creamy smell did not surprise me in the slightest. Worst case scenario the root beer is more creamy than root beery like Hanks, and that was still pretty darn good. At this point I was ready to go and wanted to dive right in to this. As I anticipated it had an old style traditional taste that was nicely complimented by a vanilla cream that made me drift away to better times. There was definitely a richness to it that completed the experience in my book and their was no aftertaste that I noticed. Overall this met my expectations and quenched my thirst, so I pretty much got the whole package in this one. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good soda.

Verdict: buy an  pack

Rating: 8/10

R's Review:

Normally I love Sprechers. And like always, it is just a straight forward flavor. I think that this was an awful root beer. I don't know much about why, all I know is that it wasn't the best flavor of root beer. My only advice is to try it.

Verdict: Buy a 4 pack

Rating: 7/10

C's Review:

OK well 1 more Sprecher to review I kinda think that immediately this was one of  better LOOKING root beers that I've seen but this had a special white cream color that just made it feel like an original root beer. This was confirmed when the smell made me want to chug the whole thing the smell just was a creamy, natural, hardy, light, and vanilla-y scent that was a nice root beer it really represented it really well. The taste was the same as the smell and that was really good. I think that the use of natural ingredients really improved this soda because when you drink a mug root beer its just not the same.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Rating: 8/10

T's Review:

Sprecher. Best brand ever. Sprecher has made amazing ones and this is no exception. It smelled like some awesome sarsaparilla or root beer and I was really excited. It tasted the same as it smelled and it blew me away. I really don't know what else to say. Sprecher is still the best brand ever.

Verdict: Buy an 8-pack

Nuclear Bomb Orange

Posted by [email protected] on December 12, 2014 at 9:30 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

"Well ok then" was what I thought when I saw this dark orange soda bottle with a picture of the infamous North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un on the label. Apparently Rocket Fizz has a dictator line of soda that includes Kim Jong Un, Fidel Castro, Osama Bin Laden, and Gaddafi. I have to say I was pretty sure that this soda would not be good because it is made to be a gag gift and a funny little party favor or something, like most Rocket Fizz lines. I have to admit though, I partly expected that this would be good because it was shockingly, sweetened with cane sugar. Unfortunately looking back on it that was a foolish thought. When we first opened the bottle I smelled the bottle filled with the red-orange brew. The smell made me think a little while before my quizzical look turned into an uneasy glance. The smell initially was a nice orange flavor and the word that first comes to my mind for some reason is "deep." Then a rich vanilla cream flavor filled my nostrils. Sounds good right, but for some reason there was a sketchy odor in the back round. Any way who am I to be aroused by a strange smell. When I took my first sip it was a lot like the smell. A "deep" orange and the rich creamy vanilla came to my taste buds. Like I said sounds good, except for the fact that the orange cream flavor was just, well bad. Then came the same infamous taste as the Lester's Fixins Buffalo Wing. The strange chemical taste that resembled an orange but had more of a genetic taste to it. So yeah that made me change my mind completely. I was initially going to give this a decent rating but this just had too many mistakes to be good. It is one of those disappointing sodas that has potential but just loses touch as you drink.

Verdict: buy a bottle

Rating: 4/10

R's Review:

I think Rocket Fizz has sodas that are absolutely disgusting and this was one of them. I was excited to drink this soda because of the label with Kim Jong Un but once I smelled it, I knew it would suck. It had the same smell as all other Rocket Fizz sodas which are rancid and smell like a chemical factory and I hated all other Rocket Fizz sodas that I have tried except the Graham Cracker. Like B said, I think this was a joke and was just to make fun of the guy. This soda was called Nuclear Bomb Orange for a reason. And I'm pretty sure that reason is because it is a nuclear bomb to your taste buds. The color was a deep orange that would be hard to see through unlike some other sodas. My first taste of this was a sucky kind that kind of resembled what Kim Jong Un might taste like to cannibals. I was hoping that this soda would be a lot better than the Lester Fixins but it wasn't better by far. It just tasted like chemicals with a hint of orange. It was horrible. Try it at your own risk.

Verdict: Buy a bottle for sampling only

Rating: 3.95/10

C's Review:

I guess this was a gag for like a holiday or something but its made by "Rocket Fizz" so we have had mixed experiences with these. I immediately questioned the color which was like a orange soda color but it had like a almost murky tint to it which kind of, I don't know set it of a little. That little tint of mud just SET ME OFF and that discouraged me. It smelled a little bit like orange but it also had the infamous "Rocket Fizz Chemical Smell" that was the one thing that I didn't want to smell. Then the taste that resembled a good orange just didn't seem right in the one way that you notice the aftertaste. The aftertaste had a couple of hints of good flavor but also the main thing was  the chemical that, as I said in the Lester's fixins reviews resembled bleach. But I mean an Kim Jong soda... cut them some slack.

Rating; 4/10

Verdict: buy a bottle.

T's Review:

I guess you have to have one bad soda if you try more than one and this is it. Rocket Fizz has made good and bad sodas.. This does have a hilarious title and I was hoping for a good orange soda. It smelled like orange, but chemical was definitely involved in the mix. It tasted orange, but the aftertaste overpowered it with chemicals, just chemicals. It was a terrible aftertaste and reminded me of Buffalo Wing soda, also by Rocket Fizz. Oh well.

Verdict: Buy a bottle (SAMPLING ONLY)

Rating: 3.5/10

Izze Sparkling Apple

Posted by [email protected] on December 6, 2014 at 7:00 PM Comments comments (0)

T's Review:

First off, let me say that I've tried Izze before, but not this flavor. Honestly, I hated the orange one, so I didn't know what to think. I also didn't think of this as a gourmet soda at first as well, plus the fact that it's in a can... but this is a soda review, not a therapy session where I spill my feelings. (:) lol) It looked like a sparkling apple cider color, not a typical green apple color. It smelled strongly, though, similar to Flathead Lake's granny apple, but twice as strong. Then I tried it. It tasted really sweet and perfect, but the cabonation was what bothered me. I guess I don't like sparkling drinks (I know, I'm crazy or something). It did have a really good non-sparkling aftertaste, like a nice white grape juice. Overall, it was okay, and I'd have it again, but please, give me a "real" gourmet soda next time.

Verdict: Buy a bottle (or can)

Rating: 5/10

B`s Review:

The first thing I noticed is this pop is a sparkling juice beverage but as I`m sure many other soda reviewers can contest, what website could be complete without Izze. We purchased this soda in a can but I`m sure they sell this in a bottle ,too. Another observation that can be made is under ingredients, white grape is listed. White graoe has a flavor that is alien to other grapes out there, It isn`t as sweet and kinda "sticky" if you will. For those of you that don`t know and live under a rock, Izze`s logo is a modern citrus wedge that in my opinion, makes all of their beverages more appealing. Any way the smell was a strong strong STRONG green apple aroma that practically took over my nostrals. It also had a very strong "carbonation" to the aroma, you know when you can kinda smell that bubbles or something, it is very hard to describe. The taste was if I do say so myself plesant and represented the flavor very well, but then again there is definetly flaws. The flavor is sharp and tart that may go a little over my tart "comfort zone" and for all of you that don`t know I have absolutely no problem with tart drinks. The carbonation was good for a sparkling juice but if it were in a soda I would say its too much. So at this point it is a tart green apple that is pretty dang acurate and a decent carbonation, so far the only critisisim is the tartness level. Hold on guys there is more to come. Then twords the end the white grape kicks in and it gets a little messy. The white grape brings the "stick" taste that I have before mentioned and it confused my pallet. First off the stickiness kind of made the carbonation weridly tame and that made the green apple flavor askew. Secondly the green apple and white grape simply didn`t work together. I can make an educated guss as to why they added the white grape in the first place and it was probably to cut the tart flavor with something. I completly agree with the concept but I can`t help but feel sad that they chose white grape, one because of the stickiness and two because they don`t mix. I personaly would go with a raspberry or something sweet but with a mild flavor. I respect the company but want my opinion to be known so my rating is justified. Alot of good things about this soda but then again, it does need some work. Izze, this is definetly nice and with a couple tweeks and you have perfection.

Verdict: buy a 6 pack

Rating: 7/10

R's Review:

This soda was just way too tart for me. I have tried some IZZE before and it was pretty tart but this was just too tart for me. I am not a big fan of IZZE. They sell it at our school and quite a few people get it because they think, oh, this is a soda and we don't normally get sodas at our school lunch so I'm just going to buy it. People shouldn't think about it like that. You have to dig in deep to find the true flavor of a soda. This soda is a well known gourmet kind because it is sold at places like schools or Chipotle. This soda should be in more places than where it is normally because it has a lot of potential but the makers just need to work on it. Now back to this soda. It had a very strong smell that had a lot of apple in it. The color was very light and sort of looked like a sparkling cider. My first sip, my mouth and face went into that position when you eat something sour. This soda was extremely tart that I couldn't even find what it truly tasted like. It could easily be a green apple because they are normally sour and tart but this was just not recognizable because of how tart it was. If you want to try it, I encourage you but you probably will not like it that much.

Rating: 5.5/10

Verdict: Buy a bottle and a half (share one with a friend)

C's Review

So I`ve never seen this izze before but I like green apple sooooo.... Well it is not exactly a soda but it is a sparkling beverage so I guess there related? It had a clearish color that I guess fit the flavor. It had a green apple smell that was good. It smelled not too sweet but not had a sweet elemant. Its taste was pretty close to a green apple not as much flavor as I would have liked but it had a small green apple that was pretty good not to sweet. Its carbonation was different because , well its a sparkling water not a "soda" necesarely. Ive had some IZZIES before and this was not the greatest.

Verdict: buy a bottle.

Hank's Gourmet Root Beer

Posted by [email protected] on December 6, 2014 at 6:50 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

Okay, so Hank's Gourmet Root Beer, sounds good to me. This is one of the few root beers we have tried (to my dismay) and I was exited. The smell was like a traditional root beer smell but there was a pleasant sweetness to it. I could tell the sweet smell was rooted from vanilla that gracefully drifted out of the bottle. The root Beer when poured, had a nice dark brown color which is an example to me, of what a perfect color for a traditional root beer like I predicted Hanks to be. The bottle gave us the impression of a traditional root beer and thats not all we got but I`m not complaining. The initial flavor was just what I expected a traditional root beer. The root beer had a perfect balance of whatever goes into root beer, winter green, natural oils, herbs, spices, and what not. It was a great example of what root beer should be. Then came the vanilla from the smell. It shot right into my mouth like a sweet and very creamy rocket zipping around my mouth. Definitely a great vanilla taste and a great root beer taste but for some reason I thought that they would be separate together. I have not the slightest idea why but it seemed like both flavors were great but was just to much. But that doesn't really matter because it still tasted superb. It was a very creamy root beer and the vanilla was definitely strong. I think the reason why I feel the flavors should be different is because I think that the soda should be labeled as a sarsaparilla not a root beer. The vanilla was to strong to let this soda get by as a root beer. The soda still tasted good and it was probably the best root beer I have had so far. The carbonation is low but call me crazy, I think that root beers should have a lower carbonations then say, maybe, an orange. I feel this way because the carbonation can get in the way of the flavor and root beer is such a delicate flavor that can be thrown off by the slightest tweak to ingredients. Then there is the orange that must have the perfect carbonation because if it has any less than perfect the refresh factor could be lacking a "zing". Anyway, that's just me and please let me know what you think in the comments. This definitely makes me want to to try more Hank`s products and I strongly recommend for any root beer fans out there.

Verdict: but a 10 pack

Rating: 8/10

T's Review:

I used to hate root beer, but this soda tasting thing has brought out the good of it to me. I still hate name brand root beer, but this gourmet stuff is good. It has a nice root beer color to it, like IBC or something like that. It smelled like any old root beer or sarsaparilla with a kick of vanilla to it. That smell always excites me, so I was beyond ready to taste it. Anyway, it tasted like an amazingly fresh sarsaparilla and it was refreshing. I agree with B that this should be a sarsaparilla, not a root beer. It had a low carbonation, but it was alright because the taste was good enough for a soda without any. Good job, Hank's!

Verdict: Buy a 10-pack

Rating: 8.5/10

C's Review:

Ah root beer the original elixir. I immediately was exited after seeing this soda, I've heard VERY good things about "Hanks" especially there root beer. It had a color like all root beer except there was a difference that was unidentifiable by the average human the color was darker it had the natural darkness that only a great root beer has. It smelled creamy and vanilla-e but also had a great root beer smell (technically a sarsaparilla). It got a huge head on it and only grew on every pour. The taste was very good like the smell except it had more of a sarsaparilla then a root beer flavor which was fine by me just that I was expecting a root beer. It had great carbonation just I wish there was more root beer in it. Overall good job HANKS and this was good.

Verdict: buy a crate

Rating: 8.75/10

R's Review:

This soda looked awesome going into it. I mean, look at the bottle, who would think this would be a bad soda. It had a nice sarsaparilla smell which to me, smells like a vanilla root beer. It had a beautiful dark color which was normal for a root beer but there was something different about it. I don't know what it was but I could just tell this soda was going to be fantastic. My first taste of this was a nice sarsaparilla and it had a big blast of carbonation. The carbonation was a bit powerful but I liked it a lot. It had a nice vanilla flavor and I would expect that out of a sarsaparilla but not out of a root beer. Normally root beer has a great creaminess to i but I don't think this had much cream to it. I loved this soda but the only thing is that I wish it was called a sarsaparilla. Nice job Hank's!

Verdict: Buy a 20 pack (or just like C said, a crate)

IBC Cream Soda

Posted by [email protected] on December 5, 2014 at 10:35 PM Comments comments (0)

B`s Review:

As far as I know IBC is well known in the gourmet soda realm. However this is the first IBC product I have tried. Like I always say first impressions are key; let's see what IBC can do. The bottle is shorter than most yet also wider than most. Also a major detail is that the bottle is a clear glass bottle with no label. All the information is in the bottle`s design. Clever and classic, good start. The instant I popped the cap off that bottle I knew this was a work of art. The smell was a rich and creamy vanilla haze that was nearly intoxicating. It was strong; I almost started drooling at the thought of the cream soda I was about to taste. The color was a light brown but not a tan, like the color of a graham cracker. The first taste was great. Smooth and complex are the first two words that come to mind. The flavor is complex because it goes through many different stages of flavor. The first being a delightful creamy flavor that fills your mouth. This flavor is probably the creamiest soda that I have tried up to this point. The creamy flavor was then whisked away by carbonation and the flavor is almost masked by the bubbles nipping at your tongue. When the next flavor arrives I think of a door way. Before the soda goes through the door it is rich and creamy, then as it enters the door it is masked by the carbonation, then when he arrives out on the other sode of the door he is a mouthwatering vanilla cream taste that leaves the drinker stunned. Its as if the soda goes through a carbonation "metamorphosis". That aspect is strange because the soda doesn`t have an over powering amount of carbonation. Any way back to the flavor after the "metamorphosis". The flavor was a stronhg vanilla and the previouse cream taste even manages to sneak in there too. That taste ends when you swallow and you're left with an aftertase that almost reflects the last taste just less potent. The soda is smooth like I mentioned. Cream sodas are some of the few sodas that can get by with a less than average carbonation but ONLY, if it is smooth. This soda is one of the few that can maintain an appropriate carbonation level and remain smooth through your drinking experience. Great first impression IBC.

Verdict: buy a 16 pack

Rating: 8.6/10

T's Review:

Who hasn't heard of IBC? It's like someone not knowing what McDonalds is! IBC root beer is probably their most popular brand (*cough cough* I hate root beer), but I haven't tried any of their products. It looked like a perfect creamy color. It smelled amazing and also very creamy. I tried it and it was really good. It started really creamy, then got masked by carbonation, then the cream came back, and so on. This was probably one of the best cream sodas I've tried.

Verdict: Buy a 12-pack

Rating: 8.5/10

R's Review:

This is probably one of the most known gourmet sodas in the world. It had a nice light cream color and after all of the cream sodas I have tried, I learned that cream is like a vanilla cream. It had a color sort of like a graham cracker. The smell was a brilliant vanilla cream and it was probably the best smell ever. The taste of this soda was extremely good with a hint of honey. This soda was so much better than any other cream sodas I have ever tried. Even better than Boylan. Unlike B, I have nothing to say about this soda but that you HAVE to try it.

Verdict: Buy a 15 pack

Rating: 9/10

C's Review:

Giving the fact that cream soda is my favorite type of soda I was into trying this soda. I've had alot of cream sodas so this had to be a cream soda when I saw its honey color that is what put me over the edge I needed to try the soda. It smelled as any cream soda would but with a honey vinilla scent in there too. It had a cool flavor that reminded me of boylan light creamy honey vanilla flavor, every thing you want in a classic cream soda. I've had some IBC sodas in the past but this was my favorite IBC yet.

Verdict: buy a 24 pack

Martian Poop Marion Berry Soda by Rocket Fizz

B`s Review:

You may have gussed we bought this soda because of its name. If you gused that you are correct. Who could pass up a soda called Martian Poop? (Actually, probably a lot of people but that's besides the fact). None of us knew what Marion Berry was or tasted like. The soda was a red-orange color that reminded me of a melon soda. The smell was pretty strong and was strongly of tylonol. Well on to the next step, describing this weird weird flavor to you. The more that I think about it the more I agree with my initial thought. This tasts exactly like graoe tylonol, you knw that kids kind. It didn`t have that grape tast but it had the same chemical/cough syrup taste that made me want to spit it out. This soda was not too bad and it actually grew on me throughout my sample (slightly however). The tylonol taste disipated alittle but was still presant enough to give this soda a bad rap. I thought that the berry taste actually became a slight bit more prominent as I kept drinking but like I said, I have not th slightest idea what Marion Berry tasts like so I don`t know if this soda is acurate. The carbonation was ok, you know so-so but the pop was drinkable. This might just be my preference so I encourage you to buy for yourself.

Verdict: buy a bottle

T's Review:

Another Rocket Fizz soda! Yes! I love looking for unique flavors, and this one was probably the most unique from our Rocket Fizz supply. It's called martian poop! We had never tried or heard of anything relatively close to marion berry. It smelled just like grape Tylenol, I guess. It was a little disappointing when it tasted the same as it smelled. Exactly like grape Tylenol, but it was still good. This is by far the most interesting soda I have ever heard of or tried. Thanks, Rocket Fizz; you guys are awesome!

Verdict: Buy 2 bottles

R's Review:

Going into this soda, I was excited because I didn't have the slightest idea what Marionberry was supposed to taste like or represent. I am not the biggest fan of berries but I was hopeful for this. The color was a light red with a look that kind of had me caught that this was going to be possibly a melon soda. The smell was of grape Tylenol and to me, I kind of like that smell. It smelled like it had a little too sugar. My first taste was like a wierd sugary taste. It was like it had a sugar substitiute like Jones black cherry zilch. It had a taste exactly like grape tylenol with a lot of sugar. This was a very different soda and I have not the slightest idea what Marionberry is. I was not the biggest fan of this soda. I'm just going to say that I am not the biggest fan of Rocket Fizz sodas. They are all different and have too much chemicals in them. This was a lot better than the Ranch or Buffalo Wing sodas but I still didn't like it.

Verdict: Buy a bottle

C's Review:

What is a marion berry I mean how does this prank soda end up with an exotic berry flavor. This soda had a color resembling a grape  soda but a little lighter. I've had some bad experienses with rocket fizz sodas and there are instences where I simply didnt want to try this soda. Its smell was a smell that made me immedietly want to run the infamous smell of the rocket fizz chemical smell! But other wise it had a berry smell that reminded me a little bit of grape initialy which in my opinion is horrible givin the fact that it reminds me of being sick. That did not discourage me from trying this soda I took a sip and it tasted like it smelled but no chemicals it had a berry flavor that was sweet but also tasted like grape tylenol. This soda was not my favorite.

Verdict: buy a bottle

The Pop Shoppe Lime Ricky

B`s Review:

This soda is important because I have made it my mission to find a great lime soda. In my opinion a good lime soda has to have a nice natural lime flavor and be a little tart, yet still be able to maintain a sweetness that keeps it pleasant. Well this could be the one because the The Pop Shoppe, in my experience, has been a very solid brand. Anyway it was a bright green soda and the bottle had a nostalgic logo with a suspicious smiling lime next to the name. Anyway the smell was a very limey scent with a sweet in there somewhere. When I tasted this soda it had a nice lime taste and it was a little sweet for a lime pop though. The carbonation was decent and made it pretty tasty. Unfortunately it gets down hill from hill, but nit too far downhill. The taste quickly developed into a strange chemically, and floral taste that mixed into a "Cascade" taste. By that it means like Cascade smells. Well I guess this is not the lime soda that I am looking for but when I do, you guys will b the first to know. Any way I think this is worth trying but I wouldn`t have more than 1 bottle.

Verdict: buy a bottle

T's Review:

I love citrus soda and I have never tried a lime gourmet soda. I was very hopeful for this one. I've only tried one other Pop Shoppe soda and it was pineapple, which I hated. But I couldn't blame them because I hate everything pineapple anyway. It smelled like a nice lime that excited me. It tasted lime, which I like, but the aftertaste was terrible. Kind of like how cleaning supplies smell. It had a good carbonation and I'd try it again, but limited.

Verdict: Buy a bottle

R's Review:

I, like T am a big fan of citrus, fruity sodas. I was excited to try this due to it's beautiful light green lime color that fit the description of a lime perfectly. I'm just going to say I wasn't overly satisfied with this soda. The smell was brilliant and to me, and smelled like a very nice, refreshing, smooth lemon-lime. My first sip of this soda was not the best. It had little lime in it but then it was just carbonation. The lime was hidden deep down inside this soda and to me, couldn't be found easily. It had a tart, lime taste and either it had too much lime in it that I could barely taste it or too little of lime. This soda had a very light taste to it but was definitely. I really liked the Pop Shoppe pineapple but I thought that Pop Shoppe could do a bit better on this soda.

Verdict: Buy a bottle

C's Review:

I like lime sodas and with my history with " The Pop Shop " I was exited when they pulled this on me I got exited. It had a color that was resembling a wild lime but a little bit off somehow. It smelled super good a not artifitial at all like a lime that is really fresh. When we opened the bottle there was THE IMFAMIS STEEAAM  and with that I made the open disicion without even trying the soda that it was good. It tasted a little like bubble up exept they took out the limon and replaced it with lime.

Verdict: buy a 4 pack

Astro Pop Passion Fruit

B`s Review:

I don`t know much at all about passion fruit. After trying this soda I Googled what passion fruit tastes like. All I could find was that it is sweet. Well then I guess the soda was spot on. The soda was a dark green that looked artificial at first thought. The smell was like one of those fruit roll ups or those Gusher fruit snacks. It smelled sweet and fruity. It smelled appealing. When I tasted the soda I was impressed. It tasted similar to the smell and it had a pleasant carbonation. I thought it was pretty fruity with a sweet taste that kinda "paced" the fruity. This is a nice soda and I would drink it again. I thought it was refreshing which surprised me because it was sweetened with an unfamiliar plant (or chemical I could not`t tell). Any way its a nice soda with a solid fruity taste that ranks among others.

Rating: 7.5/10

Verdict: Buy a 10 pack

T's Review:

Before this soda, I hadn't had anything passion fruit-tasting ever, along with even passion fruits themselves. So I was interested. It looked like a very weird shade of green, kind of like a granny smith soda (I think?). It smelled just like some fruit roll up or fruit snacks. I didn't know what to expect from that. When I tasted it, I just thought wow. The soda was really good and tasted the same as it smelled. It had a perfect carbonation to it and was very sweet. This is currently #4 on my top 5 list, so good job Astro Pop!

Verdict: Buy an 8-pack

Rating: 8/10

C's Review:

I've never actually had a passion fruit but I hope its green because this soda was GREEN. It had a very dark green color that reminded me of a over-ripe lime. But to my surprise the soda was not terrible it had a smell resembling the gusher fruit snacks but did not smell very artificial. It tasted very sweet but not toooooo sweet it also had a fruity flavor that was good. It also had almost perfect carbonation that was not as strong as a ginger beer but also not, not carbonated enough that its not good. We have had mixed experiences  strange sodas but this is good.

Verdict: Buy a 4 pack

Rating: 7.5/10

R's Review:

This soda was different. I mean I was very excited to try this soda because I have never tried passion fruit and it just intrigued me. It had a nice light green color that made it look like it had a lot of citrus in it. The bottle looked kind of funny with a little rocket in it and I thought this was going to be a fun, exciting soda. The smell was a very sugary smell with a big citrus smell. The sugar was already overly sweet for me. My first taste reminded me almost exactly of Fruit Gushers. It wasn't bad but I thought it had too much sugar. It had a great amount of carbonation in it but the sugar was just too much for me.

Verdict: Buy a 4 pack

Rating: 7.5/10

Reading Draft White Birch Beer

B`s Review:

Well here we are, its already been a month and it feels like just yesterday we were gagging on Cicero Beverage Companies Candy Bacon Cream Soda (exaggeration). Any way the first soda we are trying this December is Reading Draft White Birch Beer. I do not know why the white is so important but I know it has to do with the type of sap used. Birch Beer is a unique type of soda with many sub categories, for instance there are white birch beers, red birch beers, blue birch beers, dark birch beers and regular birch beer. At this point I don`t know if the color has any effect on the flavor but instead of Googling it i will see for myself. You may notice I am going to  be more meticulous when reviewing birch beers for the soul purpose of discovering weather the color effects  the flavor. Birch beers are said to be a mix of root beer and a winter green type flavor. I have only had one birch beer but that was quite a while back so I am curious. The smell was mouth watering. It definitely had a root beer to it but I think it also had a rather strong minty aroma. The mint was very similar to a Life Saver Mint. The taste was very similar to the smell. It had a strong winter green that was actually kind if complex but the complexity is a matter of opinion I guess. It was pretty darn sweet, but it was for sure a natural sweetness from the cane sugar, none of that corn syrup crap. It was on the sweet side so if you have a problem with very sweet things be cautious. I normally don`t like overly sweet things but I definitely liked this. Don`t get me wrong, this was not overly sweet but it was pretty sweet. Any way the cane sugar made it refreshing. The root beer flavor was there but not strong compared to the winter green. I didn`t think it tasted a lot like root beer. It had some root beer components but it wasn`t all there. Its hard to explain but definitely try for yourself. Also this was one of those sodas that has a nice and pleasant carbonation but also can maintain a smooth flow. Any soda that can perfect that is special. A refreshing soda with a smooth and complex flow, I would recommend this to anyone that is comfortable with something new. I personally adore this soda and I encourage all you out there to try it.  This soda is very appropriate with Christmas and the winter season and would be good for family gatherings at this time of year. I know Reading Draft makes more Birch Beers so I am exited to try those. Also look for Reading Draft as the December Brand of the month!

Rating: 9/10

Verdict: by a 16 pack (if they have those)

T's Review:

Wow. A lot of writing, B. But I agree. This soda is the best soda I've had in a long time (besides Sprecher Grape). I'd never even heard of birch beer before we tasted it. It was white birch beer, which NONE of us had had. I heard birch beer was kind of saparilla or something like that, but nobody knew about white birch beer besides internet info... It doesn't really help. It smelled EXACTLY like a Life Saver Mint. I love those things and I got excited. Then it got better when we tasted it. It tasted like it smelled, with a root beer mixed in. It was sweet and just simply amazing. Carbonation was perfect... I just don't know what else to say. Never mind, I do: This soda is Number 2 on my top 5!

Verdict: Buy 24-Pack (Crate)

Rating: 9.5/10

C's Review:

Check the stats because this is my favorite soda EVER and if it passes up "DANG" then there is something special, very special. I have had a couple birch beers in my day but never a white one so im always up for something new. When I smelled this soda it had a minty scent resembling a life savors mint as T said but with a mix of root beer in there. Then finally when we poured it I found out what the heck a white birch beer is... IT WAS COMPLETELY CLEAR but with a tint of white hidden in there. When I tried this soda I was mesmorized by the flavor, it was so good and it tasted almost like a very creamy root beer + some mint which in my oppinion is great.

Verdict: Buy a crate
